The Short Affair

Summer can easily be my number one season of the year. The warm sun just gives you the freedom to wear edgy outfits and boost your va va voom on every occasion.

Talking about summer essentials, hot pants and shorts are the appropriate sartorial choice. From retro denims and faux leather to colour-pop prints, nothing says complete summer dressing like hot pants. Being chic, comfortable and versatile all at once makes hot pants a must-have in every wardrobe. Another great feature that hot pants offer is the ease with which you can mix and match bright silhouettes, prints and textures in order to make a style statement.

About this look : With numerous ramifications and endless debates on The Dress, it provided me with inspiration for the theme of this post. I decided to pair dark-washed black denim hot pants with an edgy royal blue top. There is simply nothing that does not go with black and the partial lace-like translucent upper half of the top gives the look a chic touch. Being an avid lover of animal prints, the sling does justice to the whole look. Usually with shorts or hot pants, whole shoes are preferred as they complement the overall couture. Moreover, leather heels add a more strong style statement. It is by far my most comfortable look and therefore is ideal for an evening out or during travelling.

Until next time. :*

Pantilicious

So it's that part of the year again where all the pants get a welcome nod and fall fashion is incomplete without them. For women, there is nothing more comfortable and relaxed-fitting than pants and I'm sure a lot of women would attest to that. From slouchy couch-comfy to class and sophistication, pants cover all those attributes. However, the best thing about them is that you can flaunt them even when you aren't tall or skinny and they would look just spot-on. Before talking about the look, I'd like to give a few styling tips regarding pants and why they go with every body type and age.

Recently, we have seen an upsurge of wide pants and trousers on the runway. Be it Michael Kors or Tory Burch, everybody is raving about pants being the major trend of the season. And it's all for a reason. Like I mentioned, they are common to every body type. If one is short or petite, pumped up heels give the illusion of a greater height. And if you are the tall one, a high-waist trouser with high heels will add glamour, while flats will give it a more bohemian look.

About the look : I'v decided on this look by keeping in mind the current season and in a country like India where winter hasn't completely set in yet, there isn't anything more chic than those zipped pants to flaunt your legs. Neutrals have always been my favourites and they give a very sophisticated feel overall. The slits and the lace details in the top give it an edgy touch. I decided to keep my accessories golden since they go well with neutrals. The neck piece and bracelet fit well in the look. However, if you add some more of it, it might look a little over the top. The baby pink floral bag complements the look. I decided to keep the wedges silver, so that they stand out. Also, a hot pink lip colour gives the whole look a very glamorous look. All in all, the look is ideal for a night out or an after party.

Until next time, lovelies. Stay classy. ;)

This Fall, Skater Up.

Skater dresses and skirts have always been in my top-ten must have list. They are comfortable and edgy at the same time. The simplicity of these pieces have a sparkle in themselves which have made them the current chic trend.

About this look : I am a big skater fan and feel that every girl should own of these. I decided to keep it simple and not add another element to the dress. Gladiator zipped-shoes do the look justice though you can also team them up with ballerinas which would add to the femininity of the look. Furthermore, nothing says classy like a Mod'acc sling to add that glamour to your attire. Fuchsia pink on your lips and that's all you need to complete the look.

Until next time :*

Top Take-Away's From Fashion Week 2014

With the commencement of the biggest event in the fashion industry, namely, The Fashion Week 2014 there is bound to be an upsurge of new trends and patterns that capture hearts instantly. With designers showcasing fashion on a platter, here are some picks that gained approval of all and surely left the audience spellbound with their dazzling couture.

The webbed Tom Ford look definitely left the audience in a daze. Its lacquered knits and lace-like show give the look a thumps-up. The ideal look for a red-carpet event or an after-party. Best when teamed up with gladiator heels which would further enhance the detailed look.

Yet another Tom Ford look which speaks for itself. The shattered disco-ball masterpiece is as sexy as it gets. The high-gloss sequins along with thigh-high boots give it a discotheque theme with a tinge of robotic appeal. Leather pants teamed with the sequin top and you sure are the next sizzling thing in town.

Giles Deacon's abstract print brings a retro touch with it. The prints are kept simple and the pattern a very casual one. The dress is styled with Adidas soccer shoes that provide a comfortable edge to the look. The hair-do is inspired by a rather retro Kate Moss. Overall, it is an easy going look that received a nod of agreement from all.

White is the new black? This Ralph Lauren tiny-checked dress sure proves to be young, fresh and fun this season. The chinese collar and long sleeves add to the chic look. The piece looks great paired with cat-eyed glares. The dress is suitable for formal and semi-formal events.

With crop tops in vogue this season, the Fashion Week saw an ample amount of them. One among the many was this Peter Pilotto piece that sported a shirt crop-top with contrast colours in the skirt that was a new trend in the collection. The wavelengths of the sleeves are sartorially matched with those of the skirt. The piece looks best when paired with turquoise pumps.
